How this product is made

Agave Harvesting: Mature blue agave plants are harvested by skilled jimadors, who carefully remove the leaves to reveal the heart, or ” piña.” The piñas are then cut and cooked to convert the starches into fermentable sugars.

Extraction and Fermentation: The cooked piñas are crushed to extract their juices, which are then fermented. Yeast is added to the juice to facilitate the fermentation process, converting the sugars into alcohol.

Distillation: The fermented liquid, known as “mosto,” is distilled twice in copper pot stills to produce a high-quality tequila spirit. The second distillation helps refine the spirit and remove impurities.

Aging: Don Julio Reposado is aged for a minimum of two months in oak barrels. This aging process allows the tequila to mellow and acquire flavors and aromas from the wood, resulting in a smoother and more complex taste compared to unaged “Blanco” tequilas.

Bottling: After aging, the Reposado tequila is carefully selected and filtered to remove any sediment or impurities. It is then bottled at its optimal strength for distribution.
